Why We Charge Fees

Unfortunately, most of the people who joined for free never played a single game. Some of them even complained about "spam" when Racquet Network members tried to invite them to play racquet sports. A few of them, sadly, were quite nasty about it.
Racquet Network learned from that experience.
We learned that some people will sign up for anything if it's free, but that doesn't mean they genuinely want to play racquet sports. We also learned that people who sign up for free box leagues and free challenge ladders often fail to show up when the time comes to play.
In order to fix this problem, we started charging small user fees. People who want to join our network are now required to pay a Network Activation Fee ($39.95). There are also small fees for joining box leagues and challenge ladders. At the same time, we instituted a mandatory participation policy.
The new policies are working very well. People who join the network now are happy to be with us and eager to start playing. Our staff are able contact every new player and guide them through the process of getting started. We help them build their player profiles, we help them figure out which groups to join and we try to set them up with a few players who are at their level -- if that is what they want.
Without question, the decision to charge small user fees has benefited every active member of our network. Inactive players who once cluttered up our database are fading into history and being replaced by a vibrant, active and close-knit racquet sports community.
