  • A Beginner’s Guide to On-the-Spot Racquet Stringing - Our On-the-Spot Racquet Stringing program is very popular. Simply bring your racquet into our store any weekday evening from 5:00-7:00 and we will string it while you wait for just $20.00, string and labour included. • Tennis Racquet Stringing Options for Competitive Juniors - Why do so many of Alberta’s top competitive junior tennis athletes and their parents choose to string at Racquet Network? Probably because our expert staff and coaches work with parents to protect the health of their junior athletes. Keep in mind that we have been working with junior tennis players and their families since 2004. […]

  • Where to Buy Stringing Machines in Canada - Racquet stringing machines are like everything else in life. You get what you pay for. Table top racquet stringing machines, in our expert opinion, are almost useless. While they can be used to put string in a racquet, table top machines are not accurate and cannot be used to produce any volume. They are not […]
  • Is Your Racquet a String Eater? - Take a good look at the racquet in the image at the top of this article. It won’t take you long to see why the string broke where it broke. It broke because the grommet for that string hole is both crushed and split. Two holes to the left of that, another grommet is broken. […]
  • Custom Stringing vs Discount Stringing - Ian asks: “Why does custom stringing cost more than discount stringing?” The one-word answer is: efficiency. Discount stringing customers save money because they have fewer options. Our stringers can stack up a bunch of discount stringing racquets for five or six days and then bang them all out at the same time without having to […]
  • Racquet Stringing Options - Racquet Network offers Calgary customers several options for racquet stringing services. Frequent re-stringers who want custom stringing can save the most money by pre-ordering online and submitting reviews for discounts. In most cases, online 1-week-or-less orders are completed within 24 hours and come with all of the extras offered by custom racquet stringing. EXAMPLE: The […]
  • Why Do Strings Break? - Here at Racquet Network, our stringers re-string nearly 2000 racquets a year. Less than a dozen racquets a year come back for warranty repairs. This means that 99.994% of the racquets we repair are fine while 0.006% experience premature string breakage. Yet in almost every one of the 0.006% of cases where strings break prematurely, […]

  • Badminton Racquets for Teen Beginners - Teenage beginners are not the same as adult beginners. Therefore they need racquets that are different from adult beginners. For example, younger teens do have adult strength yet. This means that they need more flexible shafts than adults or older teens. While teens often believe that they need the same high-end racquet as their favourite […]
  • Badminton Racquets for Elite Females - Elite female badminton players can use racquets that are simply not beneficial for players at lower levels. Racquets at this level are stiff with tiny sweet spots. Strung at very high tensions, these racquets rely on the strengths and abilities of the players and do provide any additional power. Below is a sample of badminton […]
  • Children’s Badminton Racquets - We define child players as ages 8 and under. At this age, it is extremely important to support their development by giving them a racquet that is proportional to their height. Under no circumstances should a child be playing with an adult-length racquet. In fact, unless they are exceptionally tall for their age, most children […]
  • Best Doubles Badminton Racquets - What is the best racquet for doubles badminton? We hear this question at lot in our southwest Calgary store. It seems like a simple question. But it’s not. In general, we advise players to test drive quality racquets before buying them. Customers in our Try Before You Buy program test drive more than a thousand […]
  • Male Intermediate Badminton Racquets - Badminton racquets designed for elite badminton players are generally not suitable for intermediate players. While many men simply want to buy the most expensive racquets designed for the very best athletes in the world, this is rarely a wise decision. Adult intermediates, even men, generally lack the timing and the upper body strength of elite […]
  • Yonex Anti-Vibration Technology - Every racquet manufacturer deals with the issue of unwanted and potentially unhealthy tennis racquet vibrations in a slightly different way. However, most create a break in the kinetic chain somewhere between the string bed and the player’s arm in order to interrupt the vibrations before they get to the player’s elbow. Babolat, for example, places […]
  • How Do I Know if a Badminton Racquet is Right for My Teen? - No demographic is more susceptible to marketing than teens. In the badminton world, teens tend to want the latest iteration of a racquet used by Lin Dan, Lee Chong Wei or Viktor Axelsen. It does not occur to them that putting that racquet in their hands might lead to losing, but it might. Here at […]
  • Yonex Arcsaber 11 Racquet Review - As my readers already know, I have returned to badminton recently after a break of several years. Over the first month, I experimented with an number of Yonex badminton racquets before finally settling on the Nanoray GlanZ as the best frame for my game at that moment. That decision was made a month ago. At […]
  • Wrong Product – Right Price - It doesn’t matter what you are buying — racquets, shoes, string, accessories — price should not be your most important consideration. If it is, you will almost certainly make a poor decision. In the past 24 hours, for example, we have had two customers make poor decisions because they had price-focused tunnel vision. One spent […]
