Ridged or Textured Tennis String

The theory behind ridged or textured strings is that the ridges/edges will grab the ball and generate even more spin. However, the theory only comes to fruition when the player hitting the ball has enough racquet head speed to actually bend the string.

Textured strings like these rarely benefit players below the 5.0 level. Players below this level are typically not able to swing hard enough to bend this kind of string. So they enjoy none of the benefits and may, in fact, just end up hurting themselves.

We do not advised children, teens, recreational or older players to use any of the strings in this category. We recommend leaving this category to professional or challenger event level tennis players.
