If you can’t test drive a Prince tennis racquet, you may want to read online reviews.
There are two ways to figure out which Prince ™ tennis racquet is best for you.

The best way is to actually test drive the racquet. That way you get a sense of how it feels and how it performs when it is in your own hands.

If, however, you can’t test drive a racquet, you may have to rely on reading some online reviews. This is clearly not as good as an actual test drive, but it does give you some information to work from.

Our website contains two kinds of reviews. One set of reviews come from customers who have purchased racquets online and have submitted a product review within 30 days in order to get a discount on a future purchase.

These reviews appear under the customer’s name and are generally fairly descriptive.

The other set of racquet reviews you will see on our website appear under the name “Racquet Network” and look something like this:

This second set of reviews comes from cards that customers fill out after test driving a racquet in our southwest Calgary store. On each of these cards, customers rate each of the racquets they test drive on a scale of one to five stars.

Racquet Network does not alter reviews nor do we care how many stars customers give these racquets. We simply present the information as it is given to us.

When a Prince tennis racquet consistently gets high ratings from many people, it tells you that it is probably a racquet that is easy to get along with.

When a Prince tennis racquet gets inconsistent results, it means that the racquet appeals to players with particular tastes or needs.

When a Prince tennis racquet gets consistently low ratings, it’s probably best to avoid it.

Racquet Network customers test drive more than a thousand racquets a year. So it doesn’t take long for good racquets to emerge as highly popular demos.

Figuring out which Prince ™ tennis racquet is best for you can be difficult.

Like every major tennis brand, Prince makes racquets for a wide variety of games and playing styles.

Where to Buy Prince Tennis Racquets in Calgary

Prince tennis racquets are available in Calgary again.
Prince fans in Calgary have had a hard time finding Prince ™ tennis racquets over the past five years.

This is because Prince’s US parent company has recently passed through multiple bankruptcies and several unsuccessful distribution agreements.

The good news is that this situation appears to have stabilized. Prince now has a reliable distributor in Canada who is able to supply us with a partial range of Prince tennis products.

Not all Prince products available in the US are available in Canada, but Racquet Network has agreed to carry a range of shoes and tennis racquets as well as a small number of bags and accessories.

These products are available in our southwest Calgary store located in Woodbine. Customers who are curious about what Prince has to offer this year can come into our store and consult with one of our tennis experts.

Is Your Racquet a String Eater?

Take a good look at the racquet in the image at the top of this article. It won’t take you long to see why the string broke where it broke.

It broke because the grommet for that string hole is both crushed and split. Two holes to the left of that, another grommet is broken.

You can see that we slid the separated grommet down the string to provide a landmark for another image of the same racquet from a different angle which is posted a little further down this page.

If you find that image, you will be a able to see what is happening on the outside of the racquet, which is the other side of the hole where the string broke.

The moment the bumper guard breaks, the racquet becomes a string eater.
Why did the grommet split? Probably because the bumper guard broke. Why did the bumper guard break? Because the player hit the wall.

Did either of these happen because of something the racquet stringer did six weeks ago when he strung the racquet for the client?

Absolutely not. Yet the customer’s first instinct when the string broke was to blame us.

We didn’t use the racquet. We didn’t break the bumper guard. We didn’t split the grommet.

The customer did it. He hit the wall. Hitting the wall broke the bumper guard. Breaking the bumper guard weakened the grommet. The grommet split, exposing the soft string to the hard graphite edge of the racquet frame. Then eventually, the string broke in exactly that spot.

These events may not have happened on the same day. Each may have occurred days or weeks apart. But each event led to the other and the end result was a broken string.

So before you blame the professional who strung your racquet, ask yourself this question: is my racquet a string eater?

If you have a broken bumper guard, your racquet is a string eater. If you have broken grommets, your racquet is a string eater. If your grommets are split but not fully broken, your racquet is on its way to becoming a string eater.

If your racquet is a string eater and you want to keep it you have two choices. Either fix it or be prepared to feed it a lot of string.

Don’t blame us. We will always advise you to fix rather than feed a string eater. In fact, we carry a lot of parts just so you have the option of fixing it.

Outfitting a racquet with a new bumper guard and grommets costs about $20.00, parts and labour included. However, if your racquet is a string eater, doing this could save you many times that amount.
