YONEX CO., LTD. is proud to announce the latest addition to the ASTROX series — the ASTROX 100. Designed with a slimmer shaft and an advanced Rotational Generator System, this new badminton racquet was created for advanced players. Set for release late March 2020.
By developing racquet technologies in weight distribution, shaft, frame shape and cap, the ASTROX 100 enables access to power that controls the quick changes of pace in the game.
The innovative Rotational Generator System, introduced through the ASTROX series earlier, has been further enhanced for the ASTROX 100. More precise weight distribution throughout the grip end, frame top and the joint increases the rotational power. These enhancements ensure the momentum for quicker consecutive shots. Namd*1, which produces more flex and a faster snapback, is used throughout the frame and shaft, unleashing dramatic steep power. The synergy created from the Rotational Generator System enables continuous powerful attacks.
The already slim shaft has been modified utilizing a high-quality graphite material, creating the slimmest shaft*2 to date in Yonex. It provides a smoother follow-through by reducing air resistance and generates rotational power through more flex and a faster snapback.
The original ISOMETRIC frame has also evolved into a more ISOMETRIC shape, expanding the sweet spot. Designed for reduced power loss from off-center shots, the 2.9% larger sweet spot increases power.
The ASTROX 100 offers two models, ASTROX 100 ZZ and ASTROX 100 ZX, both designed to achieve the same concept performance.
Viktor AXELSEN (Denmark), CHOU Tien Chen (Taiwan), Akane YAMAGUCHI (Japan) and other #TeamYonex athletes will make their debut using the new ASTROX 100 ZZ during the 2020 season.

Racquet Specifications
Colours
The Astrox 100 ZZ is currently available only in one colour style. As with other Yonex frames, new colour options may be released every six months. We will update this page when other colour options become available.
Flex
This is a stiff flex badminton racquet, which makes it suitable for big, strong, athletic athletes at the elite level. Most recreational players will find this frame too stiff to use effectively, especially on the corner-to-corner backhand clear. Players below elite level should consider other racquets in the Astrox series.

Materials
The loop is made of a mix of advanced materials that include high modulus graphite, Namd, Tungsten, Black Micro Core and Nanometric. The shaft consists of high modulus graphite and Namd. This racquet also features a new built-in T joint.
Available Weights / Grip Sizes
This racquet is being manufactured in a range of weights and grip sizes. The 4U version weighs an average of 83 grams and is available in one grip sizes: G5. The heavier 3U version weighs an average of 88 grams and is available in grip size 4. Both options are being imported by Yonex Canada.
Stringing Advice
The heavier of these two racquets (3U4) should be strung in the 21-29 lb range. The lighter (4U4) should be strung in the 20-28 lbs range. Players who need advice about stringing this racquet should come into our store and consult with a stringing expert.
Racquet Technology
Expanded Sweet Spot
Compared to regular round frames, Yonex’s original ISOMETRIC frame creates a wider sweet spot. The ASTROX 100 frame has been slightly modified into an even more square-like shape, increasing the already wide sweet spot by 2.9%*1, while maintaining the same overall frame size. Benefits of this evolved ISOMETRIC shape include increased power on strong and continuous shots even if they don’t hit the center of the racquet.
Newly Designed Cap
A new structure reduces shaft twisting and increases its flexibility. Thumb fitting shape transmits even more power to the shuttle.
Yonex Namd
A world-first, new dimension graphite material, Namd, greatly improves the adhesion of the graphite fibers and resin by attaching nanomaterial directly to the graphite fiber.
In high performance racquets, it is common to combine nanomaterials with resin that connects graphite fibers, but in Yonex Namd, nanomaterials are directly adhered to the graphite fibers and resin is greatly increased. This major improvement in Yonex racquets produces a shaft that flexes and stores energy, delivering explosive force on impact with the shuttle.
Yonex Badminton Racquet Full Frame Namd
The ASTROX 99 has adopted Namd in the entire body of the racquet, including the frame. This doubles contact time with the shuttle, resulting in an explosive shot, as the racquet returns from flexed to straight at the end of the swing.
Yonex Nanometric
NANOMETRIC* improves the bonding strength between the carbon fibres enabling us to take racquet shaft construction to another level. By reducing the amount of carbon in the shaft to make it 60%* thinner than a conventional racquet whilst retaining stiffness, YONEX has created a revolutionary lightweight racquet with lightening head speed and control.
*NANOMETRIC is the new material which applies the NANOALLOYTM Technology of Toray Industries, Inc.
New Grommet Pattern
Yonex’ new single-pass grommet hole construction provides more grommet holes and fewer shared holes than other brands. This permits for a more high-performance stringing pattern.
Advance Rotational Generator System
Counterbalanced Weight Distribution
By applying the counterbalance theory, weight is distributed throughout the grip end, frame top and the joint for maximum control. The transition to the next shot can be performed smoothly, with rapid succession.
Solid Feel Core
The built-in solid feel core in Yonex premium racquets reduces harmful miscellaneous vibration at impact. This technology, called “solid feel core” is a feature of all Yonex racquets manufactured in Japan.
Improved Slim Shaft
Designed with the slimmest shaft in the history of Yonex racquets*1, this ASTROX model, traditionally hollow inside, uses graphite material in the core, resulting in an 11.8%*1 reduction in air resistance. By making the shaft solid, resilience is increased, further allowing strong continuous shots.
ASTROX 100 ZX: Extra Slim and Rexis Shaft
Rexis is a high-performance shaft precisely designed through an advanced molding technique with High-Quality, ingenuitive, Performance Graphite material. It has surpassed Yonex’s quality standards.
Aero+Box Frame
Yonex frames are contoured differently on different parts of the loop. Some areas feature an aerodynamic shape to reduce air resistance. Other areas feature a box shape to provide strength and power. This combination offers a quick swing with a solid feel.
Built in T-Joint
Moulded deep into the layers of graphite where the frame connects with the shaft, the YONEX Built-in T-Joint creates a durable and high-strength one-piece frame that is torque-free.
Energy Boost Cap
The new shape of the energy boost cap allows the shaft to flex, which ensures the maximum effect of “Namd (more flex and faster kick-back graphite material)” and stabilizes the racquet face by preventing the shaft twisting, increasing control
Isometric Head Shape
Yonex’ square-shaped ISOMETRIC frame shape is designed to keep vertical strings at a similar length. This shape produces a larger sweet spot in all directions.
